By Sally Delacruz

It is hard to imagine how hard life would have been if one is unable to use his or her feet. The foot is just as important as the hand, and it allows you to be able to perform many functions that are most essential in daily life. Without the feet, one can not go to places. One will never be able to feel the sensation of walking to check a new place out. One will never know how it feels to run, leap, hop, stumble down, then rise again. In short, it is easy to miss out on life if you are unable to walk.

Since the feet is mostly used, it needs to be protected. Before, people had to walk around barefooted that is why they usually suffer from splinters and other injuries sustained on foot. It was not long after that people gotten round to make protective clothing for the feet. People made shoes, slippers, sandals, stilettos and toggi boots to provide comfort and fashion simultaneously.

In the world of foot apparel, it is necessary to categorize footwear according to kinds. One favorite type that many favor over the others is the boots. These are a subcategory of shoes. They protect the entire feet, even the leg then up to the knee. They look great with any ensemble, which kind of makes them a standout fashion statement.

Originally, they were used by those who work around horses. They were then called riding boots and are usually made of leather. Some reach the knee, some only reach mid calf. They feature different types of catch for them to be closed around the foot. The really dressy ones are laced up. Those who can not be bothered by such intricacies use those that have zippers at the back.

One particular riding boot is fastened down by the use of a strap and a buckle, like a belt. The belt goes around the lower leg. This type is popularly called as a Jodphur boot. They can have either long or short heights and have low heels than most. They are also easily recognized for their round toes.

Cowboy boots seem to be the colorful counterparts of those used by serious equestrians. They are only slightly shorter, too, and most often does not reach the knee. They come in different materials, colors and designs. They can be quite hard to mix and match to any ensemble, and that only adds to its unique characteristic.

Wellington types were named so because they were popularized by the first Duke of Wellington. Today, they are more commonly known as rubber boots. These types are staple ensemble for hunting and any outdoor activity. They first came in black and other dull colors, but more colorful ones are available at the present. They can even bear varied designs, including cartoon characters for children to use.

Sailing ones, as the name suggests, are designed specially for sailors. They are waterproof to prevent all the seawater from coming in and wetting the feet. They are also designed to have the best grips because the surfaces where a sailor often walks upon are wet, which makes them prone to slipping.

Chaps, on the other hand, are leather coverings. These are typically worn over the pants when riding out. All of these aforementioned are only some of the best footwear that is housed in the toggi footwear collection.
